TU DARMSTADT

Technische Universität Darmstadt (Darmstadt Technical University), founded in 1877, is the first educational institution in the world to teach electrical engineering as a separate discipline. Today the university is included in the list of elite universities and the top nine technical schools in Germany.

The interest of the international scientific community in the university is constantly growing. According to the Ranking der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, Darmstadt is firmly in first place in terms of the number of foreign physicists and engineers who visit the university as guests or become its research assistants.

Since 2010, the university leadership has officially identified five main areas to which its research activities will be primarily focused on the study and development of:

  • Internet (Future Internet)
  • Modern and high-tech materials (Neue Materialien und Werkstoffe)
  • Nuclear and Radiation Science
  • Thermodynamics, theory and combustion technology (Thermofluiddynamik und Verbrennungstechnologie)
  • Integrated production technologies (Integrierte Produkt- und Produktionstechnologie)
